Fireworks in Station Road

Fireworks

The move of Dorridge Junior School's Fireworks display to Arden School was a spectacular success and the display, on November 3, was the usual triumph.

The evening was spoilt, though, by parking chaos and particularly by the selfishness of a minority. Illegal parking on Station Road around Arden School was rife. There were a host of cars half on the pavement, half off it, from the School all the way to Purnells Way. In consequence two way traffic along Station Road was impossible.

When the traffic was at its peak, shortly before and after the event itself, tempers were becoming frayed and, with pedestrians flooding to and from the display, it was downright dangerous.

To be so lazy as to park illegally on a major road to save walking far is frankly anti social and sets a poor example to the children who would have been in the cars in question.

Meanwhile, well done to all who put on such a great event inside the School in the best (ie both warm and dry) firework conditions for years.
